Mistakes in last week's issue
It has come to my attention that I made 2 simple mistakes in the last issue of the SubspaceLink newsletter. First of all, I neglected to change the footer to my geocities web-page instead of the domain (seeing as the domain is down). 2nd of all I neglected to update the issue number in the subject line from 11 to 12. As such I am putting the following 2 commendations in the records of the following Starfleet personnel:
As of Stardate 099514.7, a Commendation has been noted in the service record of Cadet Netborg.
As of Stardate 099514.7, a Commendation has been noted in the service record of Lieutenant Junior Grade WAZA.
Congratulations to the two of you, when the Sublink domain comes back up these commendations will be visible in your service record.
Star Trek news (as posted on various TV News sites this week)
The following was posted this week on www.tvguide.com :
NEW TREK SERIES IN THE WORKS: The new Star Trek TV series is already on the drawing board, the New York Post reports, and could debut by 2002. The new series will supposedly be titled Flight Academy Star Trek and will focus on a group of up-and-coming young space explorers. The new series is the brainchild of veteran Trek writer Brannon Braga and Voyager producer Rick Berman.
Other news sources however say otherwise. http://us.imdb.com/StudioBrief/1999/19990707.html#3 reports the following.
DEATH BEAM HITS STAR TREK RUMOR
Paramount has branded as "bogus" reports that the next Star Trek movie and TV series will present a young cast of relative unknowns and will be called Star Trek: Flight Academy. A studio spokeswoman has told today's (Wednesday) New York Post that series writer Brannon Braga and exec. producer Rick Berman "are in the early, early stages of a new series concept. It's early on in the stages of discussion of what it is or isn't, but it's not about Starfleet Academy. That's never even been discussed."
Whatever the next series happens to be, I look forward to seeing the future of Star Trek.
I would like to do 2 more commendations this issue to the people who helped me find both of these articles:
As of Stardate 099520.2, a Commendation has been noted in the service record of Captain Massey for gathering information for Starfleet Intelligence by providing information from tvguide.com.
As of Stardate 099520.2, a Commendation has been noted in the service record of Lieutenant Junior Grade WAZA for gathering information for Starfleet Intelligence by providing information from imdb.com.
Special congratulations to Lieutenant Junior Grade WAZA for getting 2 commendations in the same issue of the SubspaceLink newsletter. For exceptional information gathering skills, Lieutenant Junior Grade WAZA is promoted to the rank of Full Lieutenant as of Stardate 099520.2 for going above and beyond the call of duty extremely often and providing a valuable source of information to Starfleet Intelligence. Congratulations Lieutenant.
Humorous Star Trek Quote of the Week (or month, or year, or whatever)
I was watching an episode of TNG this morning entitled "Peak Performance" and I decided to put a quote from the episode here. To read about the episode, check out the official synopsis at the Startrek continuum at: http://www.startrekcontinuum.com/tng/q.asp?ssector=log.asp&ID=68400
LaForge: Data I'm not even sure this warp engine will work
Data: If the warp drive does not function, it could be ... unfortunate
Worf: Very unfortunate........We'd be dead
Worf always did have a flair for stating the obvious in a way that is humorous to the viewer, and of course, this text version of the quote doesn't even touch the humor that the quote had when it is viewed.
SubspaceLink opens another leg
I've opened a Yahoo!Club for the SubspaceLink, I don't know if it is going to be worth it or not, but you are all invited to join the Yahoo club if you want to, I'm not requiring it to remain in the Sublink or anything as I don't intend to keep it once the domain name is back up and fully functional. You can reach the SubspaceLink Yahoo!Club at:
http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/thesubspacelink
keep the posts coming, you'll note that I'm back to the old message board for the moment, this will change again when the SubspaceLink domain name comes back up.
